Over One Thousand opposition UPND members in Mkushi and Luano Districts have defected to the ruling Patriotic Front.
And in receiving the defectors, PF Secretary General Davis Mwila has urged the old members to work in peace with new members.
He said the coming on board of new members from UPND is because of the peace that exists in the party.
Mr. Mwila has also directed PF members of parliament to visit the grassroots often.
He said constituencies will only develop if members of parliament are in constant contact with the grassroots.
And PF Central Province Chairperson Chanda Mutale has challenged the UPND leadership to defend its position that none of its members are leaving the party for the ruling PF.
He said the number that has defected today is a sign that the UPND is no longer a factor in Central Province.
Meanwhile Mr. Mutale has announced the lifting of the suspension of all members of the party that were suspended from both Luano and Mkushi districts.
And PF Member of the Central Committee Susan Kawandami has implored members of the party at grassroot to continue working together and embrace those joining the party.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, former UPND Luano Constituency Chairperson Rodwell Chinyama said the people in Luano have seen how the government is taking development to the area.
