Government has refuted assertions by former Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services Chishimba Kambwili that money meant for the Digital Migration project, to the tune of 273 million United States Dollars has been misappropriated.
Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services Kampamba Mulenga says the digital migration project is being implemented under two separate contracts.
Ms Mulenga said Mr Kambwili should confine himself to politicking instead of launching a smear and slander campaign against his perceived political opponents to win public sympathy.
She said the digital migration project is being implemented under two separate contracts.
Ms Mulenga has told ZNBC News in a press statement that phase one of the project was contracted at a sum of 9.5 United States Dollars.
She said this phase entailed the erection of digital transmitters and other attendant digital transmission equipment along the line of rail from Senkobo near Livingstone to Chililabombwe.
Ms Mulenga said phase one was successfully concluded in June 2015.
She said the second contract of the digital migration project covers phases two and three respectively.
Ms Mulenga said the works under the two phases are comprehensive as the project encompasses the entire length and breadth of our country.
She said under phase two, the civil works component of the contract will entail construction of six Television studios at all provincial centres namely; Kasama in Northern Province, Chinsali, in Muchinga Province, Mongu in Western Province and Kabwe in Cent
