Ndola City Council has appealed to the Ministry of Lands, through Copperbelt Minister Japhen Mwakalombe, to have its land agency suspension lifted.
Ndola Mayor Amon Chisenga says the council has taken into consideration all the grey areas raised by the Ministry of Lands and feels it is time the land agency suspension was lifted.
Mr. Chisenga notes that since the revocation of the land agency over a year now, the council’s operations have been affected, adding that 60 percent of the local authority’s revenue comes from land issuance.
He has also expressed disappointment at the slow pace management at Ndola City Council is handling the case.
The Ndola Mayor said it is shameful to note that up to now management has not submitted any single report to the Ministry of Lands.
ZANIS reports that Mr. Chisenga said this today when he and some councillors paid a courtesy call on the provincial Minister, Japhen Mwakalombe.
And Mr. Mwakalombe has directed management at the local authority to ensure they have a report submitted to the ministry of lands this week.
Ndola City council land agency was revoked last year due to irregularities in insurance of land.
