57 Percent of L/stone Population vaccinated
Justine Akakulubelwa-About 57 %t of the eligible population in Livingstone District has been vaccinated against the coronavirus disease.
Livingstone District Commissioner, EUNICE NAWA has told ZNBC News in an interview that the figure represents thirteen percent less than than the targeted seventy percent for the district.
Mrs. NAWA says she is optimistic the seventy percent target may be attained in the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination campaign, in which a total number of 17, 812 people have so far received the first dose.
She says over three thousand have received their second doses while 9, 832 have received booster injections, bringing the total number of people vaccinated against Covid-19 in Livingstone district to 52, 265.
Mrs. NAWA has encouraged residents to get vaccinated in order to make Livingstone a safe destination for tourism.
She is appealing to parents in the district to allow their eligible school going children to be vaccinated against the pandemic..
Mrs. NAWA notes that the vaccination of eligible pupils is poor because many parents have not consented to having their school going children vaccinated.
