
PHASE 2 COMMUNICATION TOWER PROJECT NEARLY COMPLETE
(ZANIS)Government says the second phase construction of communications towers countrywide is nearly complete with only four percent scope of works remaining.
Transport and Communication Permanent Secretary, MISHECK LUNGU says under phase two, the government has done upgrades and new communication towers totaling 1,009 ..
Speaking in an interview with ZANIS in Lusaka, Mr. LUNGU said there are a few sites that have not been completed due to various challenges such as access to the sites.
He also stated that the COVID-19 pandemic is one of the challenges that has hindered the completion of the project.
Mr. LUNGU revealed that the project will be concluded by the end of 2021.
He stated that it is government’s desire to ensure that over 90 percent of the country’s population is connected to affordable Communication services.
Govt invested 280 million United-States-Dollar in the communication tower project.
