Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International airport in $30m shortfall
Clinton Masumba-Over $30m is needed to complete key remaining works at Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport in Ndola on the Copperbelt.
Zambia Airports Corporation Limited Acting Managing Director MAGGIE KAUNDA has informed the Parliamentary Committee on Government Assurances that among critical issues remaining is the 14-kilometre road to the Airport which is currently in a bad state.
Ms. KAUNDA has disclosed that other pending issues include setting up of a fuel farm and completion of the Hotel whose works currently stand at roof level.
She says once the remaining amenities are attended to, the facility will contribute immensely to the country’s economic development.
Meanwhile Committee Chairperson ELLIOT KAMONDO says there is need to ensure funds are made available to fully complete works at the Airport which would also allow the facility to generate more revenue.
Mr. KAMONDO who is Mufumbwe Member of Parliament said this after he led the Parliamentary Committee who toured the international airport.
