ANIMAL HUMAN CONFLICT IN SIANSOWA
By Martha Banda:
Several farmers in Siansowa area in Southern Province have abandoned their fields due to persistent attacks by Hippos.
The farmers have told ZNBC News that a number of people have died after being attacked by the Hippos that frequently patronize their fields.
They say most farmers have since resorted to fishing because the fields have been destroyed by the Hippos.
The farmers have since appealed for the deployment of officers from the department of National parks and Wildlife in the area.
But Sinazongwe District Administrative Officer Martin Kaoma says his office has started engaging government to ensure officers from the Wildlife department are deployed in the area.
