Athletes challenged to emulate Patson
Chansa Kunda-Government has called on Athletes in the country to emulate Striker PATSON DAKA as they endeavour to succeed in their various fields.
Science and Technology Minister FELIX MUTATI says Athletes need to develop resilience, focus and determination as witnessed from DAKA who is excelling in England.
MUTATI says the Chipolopolo and Leicester City Striker’s journey is a lesson for all Zambians as they can rise to stardom despite the many challenges.
The Minister was speaking when he graced the Zambia Closed Chess tournament held in Lusaka today.
MUTATI said the tournament should be turned into annual event so that it can produce Athletes who will contribute to the economic development of the country.
He said Chess is a great contributor in producing minds relevant to development of various sectors.
MUTATI said chess is a game changer that can help develop youths into critical thinkers and resourceful citizens.
And Chess Federation of Zambia President MUKUBULO CHILUFYA thanked the Minister for coming on board to help source for sponsorship used to host the tournament.
CHILUFYA said the Federation needs a lot of funding to help groom players who will increase Zambia’s ranking at continental and global levels.
CHILUFYA also disclosed that the Federation will soon start hosting the chess tournaments in all zones in honour of the Minister.
