
BOOSTER JAB AVAILABLE IN ALL PUBLIC HEALTH CENTERS
Government has announced that booster shots will be available at all public health facilities and selected private health centres from tomorrow December 27th, 2021.
Minister of Health SYLVIA MASEBO has encouraged eligible Zambians above 18 years old to take the booster shots to increase their chances of fighting COVID-19.
Ms. MASEBO says those eligible for the booster shots are those who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
She has further categorised those eligible for the booster shots as those who got the Johnson and Johnson vaccine , two months ago and others who got their 2 doses of the other vaccines 6 months ago.
The Minister has also encouraged parents to get their children between the ages of 12 and 18 to get them vaccinated.
She has emphasised that vaccines prevent severe disease and even death.
Ms. MASEBO, who has expressed concern with the increasing numbers of COVID-19 cases, says it is important that Zambians start to take the fight against the pandemic seriously by adhering to the prescribed prevention guidelines.
She says the country has in the last 24 hours recorded 1,539 new cases.
Ms. MASEBO adds that 50 admissions were also recorded in the last 24hours and among the admissions are 2 doctors who have COVID-19 Pneumonia and are currently admitted at the UTH Intersive Care Unit -ICU.
She says five deaths have also been recorded in the last 24hours.
Ms. MASEBO has since urged Zambians to celebrate the festive period with caution and avoid unnecessary movements.
She says the virus is being spread through travelling.
