BOWMAN EJECTED
By Sharon Kunda/Lazarous Sichula:
PF Kabushi lawmaker Bowman Lusambo was this morning ejected from the National Assembly for walking out on the Speaker.
Mr. Lusambo had been on the floor, asking a question, during the Vice President’s Question Time session, when he was asked to sit down and wait for guidance from the Speaker.
But Mr. Lusambo disregarded the Speaker’s guidance and continued responding to running commentaries from other lawmakers who had been seemingly taunting him.
It was at this point that the Speaker, Nelly Muti, insisted that Mr. Lusambo sits down.
Mr. Lusambo then walked out of the chamber while the Vice President’s Question Time session was still underway.
And when Mr. Lusambo later returned to the chamber, Home Affairs Minister Jack Mwiimbu raised a Point of Order against the Kabushi lawmaker.
Mr. Mwiimbu wanted the Speaker to rule whether Mr. Lusambo was in order to show such disrespect to the Speaker, who was merely guiding him.
In her ruling speaker of the national Assembly Speaker Nelly Muti ruled that Mr. Lusambo was out of order as he brought ridicule to the Speaker by his storming out of the House after being guided.
As punishment, the speaker ordered the Kabushi lawmaker to excuse himself from the day’s proceedings in order for him to vent his hunger outside the precinct of the House.
