BOXING: LOLITA MUZEYA OUTCLASSED
By Chansa Kunda:
Zambia’s female boxer Lolita Muzeya was last night out classed by Savannah Marshall of Britain as she could not get past the second round in the Middleweight title fight staged at the Newcastle arena.
The bout that was scheduled to last for ten rounds was called to an end through a Referee’s Stop the Contest verdict to save the Zambian boxer.
The 30 year old who could not retaliate from receiving hard blows from MARSHALL lost the opportunity to challenge the title.
Muzeya started the bout on a flying note as she was peppering Marshall with her left and right hands which forced the reigning World Boxing Organization -WBO- champion to respond in the pockets and slam her opponent with some eye- catching uppercuts.
Following her resounding victory Marshall has set up a unification fight against American boxer Claressa Shields.
The Zambian who holds the World Boxing Council -WBC -silver female Welterweight title has seen her unbeaten run come to an end.
By virtue of her defeat Muzeya’s record of professional fights stands at 17, with 16 victories, one loss and no draw while Marshall who successfully defended her title is at eleven wins.
