CHIPOLOPOLO URGED TO LEARN LESSONS FROM SENEGAL
By Katwishi Bwalya
Football fans in Lusaka have asked the Chipolopolo and the Football Association of Zambia -FAZ- to learn lessons from Senegal who were crowned African Champions last night.
Football Analyst REUBEN KAMANGA says Senegal has proven that consistency is key to achieve glory in international football.
KAMANGA says Senegalese players have been together and managed to blend to come up with a formidable team that eventually won their first AFCON Trophy.
He told ZNBC news that it is time Zambian players started to die a little for their country saying wearing national colours should be considered a privilege.
And CHARLES CHILESHE, a Lusaka based football fan said Senegal maintained their coach for 8 years whom they did NOT fire despite not getting the desired results.
CHILESHE said Zambia should learn the art of keeping a coach for a long time.
And the Senegalese Government has thanked Zambian football fans for rallying behind their team during the entire tournament which saw them beat Egypt in the final.
ZNBC’s KATWISHI BWALYA reports that the Senegalese Consul General in Zambia BOUBOU SENGHOTE described Zambians fans as amazing.
He said winning the AFCON is a proud moment for all the Senegalese living in Zambia.
Mr. SENGHOTE said what remains is for the Teranga Lions to focus on qualifying to the World Cup.
