Cost Of Living To Reduce Gradually-Nalumango
Mary Kachepa-Vice President MUTALE NALUMANGO says government is confident that the cost of living will gradually reduce following consistent reduction in the inflation rate.
Mrs. NALUMANGO says the drop in inflation is an indicator that the cost of living will also go down.
MEANWHILE the Vice President says government does not determine the cost of petroleum products but follows the price on the international market.
Mrs. NALUMANGO said this in the National Assembly during the Vice Presidents question time.
This was in response to Shiwangàndu Member of Parliament STEPHEN KAMPYONGO who wanted to know how government will ensure the cost of fuel remains affordable and stable as adjustments in pricing have an impact on the cost of goods and services.
She also said government has not introduced any subsidies on fuel but simply extended the existing tax waiver on petroleum products.
And, Mrs. NALUMANGO said government is confident that it will clinch a deal with the International Monitory Fund -IMF- and negotiations are on course.
She said this in response to Leader of Opposition in Parliament BRIAN MUNDUBILE who wanted to know if the policy shift on when the IMF deal will be concluded will affect negotiations.
Meanwhile, Mrs NALUMANGO said government does not condone police brutality on the two youths that were seen in a video insulting President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA because two wrongs do not make a right.
She however condemned the behavior of the two youths saying degeneration of morals and disrespect to the President or any other citizen should not be condoned.
Mrs. NALUMANGO called on leaders to take responsibility and condemn such behavior.
