By Etambuyu Katota- The Ministry of Health says the easing of pressure being observed on the health care system by the reduction in hospitalizations is encouraging.
Health Permanent secretary Technical Services, KENNEDY MALAMA says community transmissions however continue to remain high.
Dr. MALAMA says the high positivity rate implies that COVID 19 is not yet controlled in our country.
He says the ministry of Health targets to meet a positivity rate less than 5 percent and currently the positivity rate is at 17 percent.
Dr. MALAMA has reiterated the call to members of the public not to drop the guard but heighten compliance to public health and social measures in addition to getting vaccinated when vaccines are available.
He says in the last 24 hours the country recorded Nine Hundred and Seventy-One new confirmed COVID 19 cases out of 5,682 tests conducted and twenty-Four new COVID-19 related deaths.
