“DO BACKYARD FARMING”
By Justine Akakulobelwa- An agriculture entrepreneur in LIMULUNGA District , in Western Province, has encouraged Zambians to invest in backyard farming.
LUTANGU PUMULO, who has 10 fish ponds and a mini banana plantation on his residence , says backyard farming has the potential to generate income and sustain families.
Mr. PUMULO has told ZNBC News in an interview that it is time people utilized the idle land in their backyards as a stepping stone to venture agriculture.
He said on the backdrop of his backyard farming, he managed to venture into rice farming, in the nearby plains, where he has harvested over five hundred bags.
Mr. PUMULO has also advised youths to venture into farming as opposed to always seeking white-color jobs.
He said food fetch high profit as it has a huge demand hence the need for youths to change their mindset and venture into agriculture.
