Nicholas Mwale-Chief NKAMBO of the Lamba people in Masaiti District has warned farmers in his Chiefdom that they risk facing serious sanctions if they sell inputs they have received under the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP).
Chief NKAMBO says his leadership has carried out enough sensitisation to farmers that they should not sell the inputs, but utilise them prudently so as to be food secure at household level.
He says farmers should appreciate government for doing its role in supplying inputs timel, which is vital for planning purposes.
Chief NKAMBO has applauded President EDGAR LUNGU and the Ministry of Agriculture for ensuring that farmers collect inputs in advance before the rains start.
And Masaiti District Commissioner PATRICK ZULU says the inputs distribution exercise is moving smoothly, and that farmers are happy to receive inputs early.
And Nyimba Investments Head of Sales and Marketing WILLINGS MULENDEMA says the company is cooperating well with agricultural officers in Masaiti District to ensure smooth issuance of fertilizer to farmers.
And a farmer in Masaiti District SILVESTER MUSAMBA has urged his fellow farmers not to sell the inputs they have received, but keep them properly as they await for the rains.
