ECL HINTS ON PROCESSING PLANT
By Hector Simfukwe:
President Edgar Lungu has urged business houses to set up processing plants for agricultural produce in rural areas.
President Lungu says this will be more profitable as opposed to transporting raw materials from rural areas to urban areas for processing.
He says it will be nice to process mealie meal in Chinsali before exporting it to Tanzania through Nakonde.
President Lungu says government will also do its part by putting up roads and other infrastructure to support the growth of the private sector in rural areas.
He said this when he held a meeting with the business community in Chinsali.
And President Lungu has urged the business community to ensure that the twenty percent sub-contracting policy on government contracts is implemented.
He said where this is not implemented those in business should ensure that they report the matter to the relevant authorities.
And speaking on behalf of the business Community Haggai Ngandu called on investors to invest in the processing of Cassava in Chinsali.
He said this will provide market to farmers in Muchinga like those in Luapula.
Mr. Ngandu said the District also has huge potential for sugar plantation.
Earlier the President held another meeting with members of the Pastors Fellowship in Chinsali.
