ENGAGE ECZ, MWILA ADVISES OPPOSITION
By Etambuyu Katota-Patriotic Front Secretary General Davies Mwila says opposition political parties are coming up with baseless allegations against the Electoral Commission of Zambia – ECZ- because reality has dawned on them that they will lose the 2021 general election.
Mr. Mwila says the opposition are aware that they cannot beat the PF during the next general election.
He says baselessly accusing the ECZ of trying to rig the 2021 general elections in favor of the PF is meant to discredit the commission and lay a foundation to dispute election results.
Mr. Mwila says petty politics must not be allowed to divide the country, adding that politicians must learn to differ on real issues and not fictitious matters.
He was speaking during a media briefing in Lusaka today to give resolutions following the Central Committee extra ordinary meeting chaired by President Edgar Lungu yesterday.
The PF Secretary General has advised the opposition to engage governance institutions through mature dialogue instead of maligning innocent individuals on social media.
Mr. Mwila said the ECZ does not take instructions from any person of authority, not even the President, but operates independently and must be accorded the respect it deserves.
Meanwhile Mr. Mwila said the party has adopted Rosemary Chimbini as its candidate for the upcoming Chilubi Council Chairperson by election set for 22nd October.
He announced that Government Chief Whip Brian Mundubile and Health Minister Chitalu Chilufya will be the campaign managers.
Mr. Mwila said Ms. Chimbini is a seasoned politician and accomplished community leader.
He said the party strives to enhance women participation in politics.
Mr. Mwila said the party has pledged and committed to conduct issue-based campaigns without insults, provocations or violence.
And Mr. Mwila has advised party members to respect party structures and that any form of misconduct will not be tolerated.
