Unknown people have broken into the head teacher’s office and the strong room at Chilochabalenje Primary School stealing some Grade 9 examination question papers and a school laptop.
ZANIS reports that, the stolen examination question papers are Business Studies, Social Studies paper 2, and Chitonga paper 2 which are yet to be written.
Acting Deputy Head teacher for Chilochabalenje Primary School Imboela Lubinda says the trunk containing Grade 7 examination question papers was also tampered with but no paper has been stolen.
He said the incident is suspected to have happened between Monday night and yesterday morning.
Explaining to the District Education Board Secretary (DEBS) Berlina Moono and the Police who had rushed to the school, Mr Lubinda said the thieves destroyed the locks to the office door and the strong room where the examination question papers were secured.
He said both trunks containing Grade 7 and Grade 9 examination question papers were removed from the strong room adding that all the 20 question papers for Business Studies and 20 for Social Studies paper 2 distributed at the school have been stolen.
Mr Lubinda said only one question paper out of 15 for Chitonga paper 2, has been stolen.
He said the trunk containing Grade 7 exam question papers was found unopened early in the morning yesterday by the flag pole by one of the teachers, while the other trunk which had Grade 9 exam question papers was discovered in the nearby bush.
Police have since intensified investigations of the burglary at the school’s head teacher’s office and the strong room.
Meanwhile, Chibombo District Commissioner Barnabas Musopelo is saddened by the incident describing the act as retrogressive to the government’s efforts to curb examination leakages.
