FILING IN OF NOMINATIONS STARTS MONDAY – ECZ
The Filing in of nominations for all elective offices ahead of the August 12 general elections will start tomorrow.
Electoral Commission of Zambia -ECZ- Chief Electoral Officer Patrick Nshindano says filing in of Presidential nominations will run from tomorrow until Thursday at Lusaka’s Mulungushi International Conference Centre.
Mr. Nshindano says President Edgar Lungu the ruling PF Presidential candidate will be the first one to file in his nomination from 09:00 hours to 10: hours tomorrow.
He adds that other candidates to file in their nominations the same day are Enock Tonga, Sean Tembo from PEP, Andyfold Banda of PAC and Trevor Mwamba from UNIP.
Mr. Nshindano says the filing in of presidential nominations will be done by ECZ Chairperson Justice Esau Chulu as Retaining Officer.
Addressing the media in Lusaka today, Mr. Nshindano however said the filing in of all other nominations such as National Assembly and Councils will take place in respective districts.
He advised aspiring candidates to ensure that all necessary nomination documents as provided for in the ECZ nomination checklist are in place.
Mr. Nshindano further advised all political parties to adhere to COVID -19 measures during their campaign period.
And Mr. Nshindano has advised political parties who have not completed their pre-processing exercise to bring their supporters to Lusaka to complete the exercise before nominations commence.
