FIVE HOSPITALS GET TELEMEDICINE CENTERS
(ZANIS) Morehouse School of Medicine an American medical training institution has installed Telemedicine centres in five Hospitals in the country.
Health Minister SYLVIA MASEBO says the government is excited with work Morehouse is doing with Telemedicine to improve the client experience and clinical outcomes.
Ms MASEBO says this is the reason the government has prioritised digital platforms delivering healthcare services to the people, adding that the government has also included provision of health care services using information technologies in the next budget.
She said this during her visit to the Kanyama General Hospital Telemedicine Site, one of the five telemedicine Centers in the country managed by the Morehouse University.
Telemedicine is the practice of medicine using technology to deliver care at a distance. A physician in one location uses a telecommunications infrastructure to deliver care to a patient at a distant site.
And United States Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Deputy Country Director, GENESSA GIORGI said the US government is happy with the work that telemedicine is doing in the provision of health services.
