FRA secures 18,000 metric tonnes of maize in S/Province
ZANIS-Government has through the Food Reserve Agency -FRA secured over 18 thousand metric tonnes on Maize in Southern Province.
This comes after a successful operation dubbed BUTALA by the defence force who where in October last year directed to move the commodity to more secure places.
Speaking during the provincial decommissioning of the Maize Haulage exercise in Kalomo, Southern Province Minister CORNELIUS MWEETWA said his office will continue through relevant channels to cement the collaboration with the defence forces in the area of m
ize haulage especially in the hard to reach places.
He said, defence forces have affirmatively concluded the maize haulage exercise at a minimal cost than the private transporters.
Mr. MWEETWA has since urged the people of Southern Province to take advantage of the New dawn government which is committed to improving the agricultural sector for economic viability in the country.
AND Zambia Army Southern Region formation commander Brigadier General SALIMU CHANDA said the defence Forces will remain steadfast for any situation that may need their assistance.
