Govt concludes covid-19 vaccine talks with private sector
Julius Sakala-Health Minister, JONAS CHANDA says consultations have been concluded with the private sector and non-state actors, who want to contribute towards procurement of COVID-19 vaccines.
Dr. CHANDA says following the consultations, which concluded yesterday, draft guidelines will now be reviewed for approval, ahead of acquisition of additional vaccines through this pillar.
This follows the announced arrival in the country, of the first consignment of 2-hundred and 28-thousand doses of ASTRA-ZENECA vaccines, next Monday, April 12.
Dr. CHANDA has indicated that from the consultative meetings, the private sector is also ready and eager to mobilise the necessary resources, to support the vaccine deployment.
He has stated that the Ministry of Health will ensure that vaccines are administered promptly, and in a transparent manner as soon as they arrive in the country.
The Minister said this in his statement on the daily updates of COVID-19 in the country.
And Dr. CHANDA has reiterated that government is receiving tremendous show of support and interest from the donors and cooperating partners.
Meanwhile Zambia has recorded 1-hundred and 35 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.
There has not been COVID-19 related deaths recorded during the same period.
