HAMUDUDU SPEAKS AGAINST POLITICAL RALLIES
By Hector Simfukwe:
Party of National Unity and Progress (PNUP) President Highvie Hamududu has called on political parties to avoid political rallies if they value human life.
The opposition leader says if political leaders cared for citizens, they should avoid calling for public ralies and preserve lives in the wake of the third wave of the deadly COVID 19 pandemic.
He says it does not make political sense for political parties to choose to kill the people that they are aspiring to govern.
Mr. Hamududu has appealed to authorities to put guidelines in writing so that no political party has an advantage over the other.
He said this at the PNUP Headquarters in Lusaka today.
The Electoral Commission of Zambia(ECZ) has discouraged political parties from holding political rallies and large gatherings.
ECZ has advised political parties to use other methods to send their political messages across.
Subsequently, the ruling Patriotic Front has banned all its members from holding political rallies in a bid to safeguard human life in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic whose infection rate has continued to rise.
That’s the only way to go My President.
Life is more precious therefore, we have to avoid overcrowded places.
