HH LAYS WREATHS AT FREEDOM STATUE

President Hakainde Hichilema has led Service Chiefs and diplomats during the wreath laying ceremony at Freedom Statue in Lusaka, to mark the commemoration of this year’s independence.
The President arrived at the Freedom Statue after 09:00, amid cheers from supporters and some party members.
The Ceremony was characterized by the demonstration of military drills by the defense personnel.
The defense force also mounted gun salute in commemoration of the country’s independence.
Earlier Ministry of Defence General Chaplain Brigadier General Vincent Mwenya in his homily called on Zambians to embrace the ideals of the United Party for National Development -UPND- new dawn administration for Zambian to record economic emancipation.
General Mwenya emphasized that Zambians must reject laziness and handouts if the country is to attain economic emancipation.
This year’s Independence Anniversary is being commemorated under the theme “Celebrating a new dawn anchored on good governance, national unity and development”.
