HIGHER EDUCATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM LAUNCHED
By Ruth Chayinda
Government has launched the first ever Higher Education Authority Integrated Management Information System, standards and guidelines in tertiary education.
The system is aimed at enhancing Governments implementation of e-Governances.
And speaking during the launch, Higher Education Minister Brian Mushimba said the HEA integrated management information system and standards and guidelines will promote good governance in higher education institutions and foster development of quality learning programmes.
He said this in a speech read on his behalf by Higher Education Permanent Secretary Kayula Siame.
Dr. Mushimba described the launch as a practical and tangible example of Government is refining its systems to ensure efficiency in the delivery of services.
He also expressed satisfaction that the higher education authority integrated management information system was developed by the University of Zambia, saying it shows that Zambia is able to source solutions locally through the higher education institutions.
And HEA Director General Stephen Simukanga said the launch is a demonstration that higher learning institutions can do wonders if challenged.
Meanwhile, UNZA Vice Chancellor Luke Mumba said UNZA has the necessary expertise and resources to work with Government institutions in order to provide the needed solutions that will ensure that Government saves money.
