Hotels, Lodges Urged to Go Green
Tourism and Arts Minister Ronald Chitotela has urged hotels and lodges to embrace an energy mix that is environment friendly.
Mr. Chitotela says his ministry is on track to propel Zambia’s tourism and hospitality to the next level.
Speaking when he opened the first ever Hotels Show, Mr. Chitotela said Government will explore modalities on how green hotel adoption can be encouraged.
He said the hospitality industry is a key consumer of resources that impacts on climate.
Mr Chitotela said the potential that the sector must be harnessed to maximize economic growth and development of the country.
He was speaking in a speech read for him by Tourism Permanent Secretary Amos Malupenga.
Meanwhile, Zambia Tourism Council Board Chairperson, Vincent Mupwaya said hotel shows will highlight the significance of tourism and hospitality in Zambia and the continent at large.
Mr. Mupwaya said the two-day event will also market Zambia’s tourism potential as well as other investment opportunities.
