“Inaccurate Media Reports Affecting Agriculture Pricing and Production”
By Masauso Mkwayaya -The Ministry of Agriculture says it is concerned that inaccurate media reports are affecting the pricing and production of various agriculture commodities in the country.
Agriculture Permanent Secretary, Songowayo Zyambo, says just like other commodity markets, the Agriculture sector is sensitive to information floating around.
Mr. Zyambo says the Media should therefore maintain accurate in its reporting and research thoroughly before going public with potentially sensitive news items.
He says the Media should claim its place in disseminating accurate information which is important to the development of the Agriculture sector.
Mr. Zyambo said this in Lusaka today when he launched, “The Enhancing Agricultural Journalism Workshop” organised by Corteva Agri-science.
And Corteva Agri-science Zambia Managing Director, Samson Nyendwa, said the media plays a key role in enriching peoples’ lives through Agriculture.
Mr. Nyendwa said the workshop is meant to provide tools to Journalists to enable them report more accurately about the Agriculture sector.
And Mr. Nyendwa said Corteva has chosen Zambia as a seed production hub for the East, Southern, Central and the Great Lakes regions because of the stable Political and Financial Environment.
