“INDUSTRIAL YARDS TO SPUR JOB CREATION”

The African Development Bank -AfDB- says investment in the establishment of 8-industrial yards in Zambia will spur job creation and reduce poverty.
The AfDB which has invested 30 million dollars in the project says the industrial yards will transform economies of host towns and create job opportunities for locals.
Bank Country Manager DUROWOJU OLANIYIS was speaking at the commissioning of the Mansa Industrial Yard in Luapula Province.
Mr. OLANIYI said products which will be made from the industrial yards must target the regional and international markets which are yearning to buy.
And Small and Medium Enterprises Minister ELIAS MUBANGA said entrepreneurs who will be selected to set up businesses in the Mansa Industrial Yard must ensure they enhance value addition.
Mr. MUBANGA advised the entrepreneurs to tap into the large Congolese market which can give the country the much needed foreign exchange.
Meanwhile, CEEC Board Chairman JASON KAZILIMANI has disclosed that selection of entrepreneurs to set up businesses at the Mansa Industrial Yard has advanced.
The Mansa Industrial Yard has been built at the cost of 24 million kwacha and includes 12 workshops which are already connected with electricity and clean running water.
