IRELAND, ZAMBIA TO MARKET TOURISM
Ministry of Tourism and Arts Permanent Secretary Howard Sikwela said his ministry remains committed to working with the Irish embassy to market Zambia to the outside world during saint Patrick celebrations.
Reverend Sikwela was speaking during a media breakfast organized by the Irish embassy in Lusaka.
He said the tourism sector is key in raising the country’s revenue hence the need to improve the country’s tourism marketing especially about the Victoria falls.
And speaking at the same event Irish Ambassador to Zambia Seamus O’grady said Saint Patrick is an Irish festival celebrated on March 17 every year.
Mr. O’grady said the embassy in cooperation with the National Heritage and Conservation Commission will include Victoria falls in the global greening initiative from March 15 -17, 2019.
He said the greening of Victoria falls has already received extensive coverage in the Irish Media.
And National Heritage Conversation Commission Executive Director Collins Chipota thanked the Irish government for picking the Victoria falls for global greening during the saint Patrick celebrations.
On March 15 to17, 2019 the Victoria falls will be lit in green during saint Patrick celebrations.
