KAFUE CONNECTED-KAPATA
ZESCO has started supplying electricity to Kafue residents through the newly constructed Greenfield sub-station built at a cost of about 54 million kwacha.
The 63 Mega Volt Amp Greenfield substation is meant to supplement power supply in the District from the initial 20 Mega Volt Amp Kafue substation which could not sustain the growth of the customer base in the area.
ZESCO spokesperson Henry Kapata says the utility firm is ensuring electricity supply in the District is enhanced to meet the growing demand.
Mr. Kapata says electricity demand has been growing by 3-point 4 percent quarterly in Kafue since government declared the District as an iron and steel economic Zone three years ago.
He says the newly constructed greenfield substation has been designed to carter for more residents and industries that are yet to connect to electricity this year.
