KAFUE FISHERIES LAB NEARS COMPLETION
(NAIS) Construction of the state-of-the-art fisheries laboratory at the Zambia Aquaculture Research Institute in Kafue District will be completed in September this year.
Fisheries and Livestock Permanent Secretary BENSON MWENYA has revealed that works on the fisheries laboratory and breeding ponds worth about 43 MILLION KWACHA have advanced and are at 85 percent completion stage.
Dr. MWENYA says the completion of the fisheries laboratory will build capacity for the country to handle the Tilapia Lake Virus and other fish diseases that pose a threat to the development of the aquaculture sector.
He says the laboratory and other facilities at the Zambia Aquaculture Research Institute will offer aquaculture research, feed analysis and food safety to the fisheries sub sector.
Dr. MWENYA said this when he inspected construction works at the Zambia Aquaculture Research Institute in Kafue funded under the Zambia Aquaculture Enterprise Development Project.
