KALUMBA CLEARS AIR
By Lucky Phiri:
General Education Permanent Secretary Jobbicks Kalumba has clarified that STEM education in schools has NOT been banned, but integrated into the national curriculum of 2013.
Therefore, Dr. Kalumba says effective this term, all STEM schools were directed to revert to the national curriculum.
Dr. Kalumba has explained that there is need to first build capacity among the teachers and update STEM equipment in schools, before the programme is fully implemented.
He has told ZNBC news that STEM education requires updated equipment and technology, in order for the programme to be effectively undertaken in schools.
Dr. Kalumba has added that STEM schools will however continue using the principles of STEM education, but using the national curriculum, as government fully implements the programme countrywide.
