Kaoma In Campaign Mode
(ZANIS) Campaigns have kicked off in Kaoma following the filling in of Nominations by three successful candidates to contest in the Kaoma Town Council Chairperson.
United Party for National Development-UPND candidate Austine Muneku 55 was the first one to filling in his nomination at exactly 12:00 hrs.
United Prosperous and Peaceful Zambia-UPPZ candidate Chuula Maseka was second to fill in at 13:00 hrs.
The ruling Patriotic Front-PF ‘s Ngebe Ngombo filed in at 14:00hrs.
Returning officer Given Muleya certified the Nominations of the three candidates valid and declared the nomination center closed.
Speaking after filling in PF candidate Ngebe Ngombo, 65 retired teacher says she wants grow the local economy using local resources.
Mrs Ngombo says once voted in she will engage herself into empowerment programs for women and youths through formation of cooperatives.
And Mr. Muneku says he understands the challenges Kaoma District is faced with and will ensure that he works tirelessly to address them.
Meanwhile, Mr, Maseka 29 says he will concentrate working on land normalisation in Kaoma.
He has since called on the youths to vote for him as he will represent them well.
The Kaoma Council Chairperson seat fell vacant after the resignation of UPND’s Mutti Bindundu.
Electoral Commission of Zambia has set October 10 the as poll day.
Kaoma has two constituencies namely Kaoma Central with 25,616 registered voters while Mangango has 22,073 a total of 47,689 for the whole District.
