KASANKA PARK RECORDS MORE TOURIST VISITS
By Chansa Kunda
Kasanka Trust Tourism for Conservation Director Eric Rambeloson says there has been an influx of local tourists in the Kasanka National park this year as opposed to the previous years which have been dominated by foreign arrivals.
Mr. Rambeloson says the park has recorded an 80 percent increase in local tourists from the October to November 2020 following the easing of some COVID-19 protocols in the tourism sector by Government.
He told ZNBC News in an interview that in the early months of the COVID-19 outbreak, the park ran out of business but that the narrative has changed owing to Government’s interventions from the line ministries.
Mr. Rambeloson who is also a board member of the trust has since implored more Zambians to take advantage of the reduced rates on the facilities to appreciate the country’s vast tourism sites in the area.
He said Zambians should become fore runners in marketing the country’s various tourism sites.
Mr. Rambeloson further said the visit by the Ministry of Tourism and Arts Permanent secretary during this year’s bat migration season is a boost to supporting conservation of the park.
Tourism and Arts Permanent Secretary Auxilla Ponga and newly appointed French Ambassador to Zambia Francois Goldblatt have arrived in Kasanka for a two-day working visit.
