
KITWE MAN NABBED FOR DEFAMING PRESIDENT LUNGU

Police in Kitwe on the Copperbelt, have arrested a 24-year-old man of Kitwe’s Saint Anthony township for alleged defamation of the President.
Copperbelt Province Police Deputy Commissioner, Bothwell Namuswa told ZNBC news that the suspect, identified as Lawrence Kasonde was arrested today.
Mr. Namuswa said the suspect posted a video in a PF WhatsApp group on Monday this week, defaming the President, after acquiring a voter’s card.
He said Kwacha Ward Councillor, Alex Chembo reported the matter at Riverside Police Station, which prompted investigations by police.
Mr. Namuswa explained that Mr. Kasonde will be charged with defamation of the President and that all the evidence is in the video he posted on a WhatsApp group.
Mr. Kasonde is in police custody and is scheduled to appear in court.
