LUNG DISEASES CHOCKING COPPERBELT
Government is concerned with the increase in the number of occupational lung diseases on the Copperbelt.
Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary Jabin Mulwanda says Copperbelt, being a mining province, is exposed to conditions that facilitate for the spread of occupational lung diseases.
Dr. Mulwanda says that most lung diseases go untreated because of misdiagnosis by medical personnel.
Dr Mulwanda was speaking during the launch of the BE Reading training in Kitwe.
The program is aimed at training medical staff on the use of digital
facilities in order to diagnose lung occupational diseases.
And, Speaking during the same event, World Bank Representative John Makumba says TB has in the recent past claimed lives of productive workers, leading to a reduction in the levels of productivity in the workforce.
