MAAMBA COLLIERIES OWED $350M

By Fortune Malata-Maamba Collieries Limited says it is unable to efficiently operate its 300 megawatt coal fired power plant, due to cash flow challenges.

Chief Executive Officer, Venkat Shankar says the firm is owed over 350 million dollars in power supply.

Mr. Shankar says the cash flow challenges are affecting the company’s maintenance programme for the thermal plant.

He was speaking during a media tour of the power plant organised by the Energy Regulatory Board -ERB-.

Meanwhile, ERB Senior Manager Consumer and Public Affairs, Stephen Bwalya commended Maamba Collieries for the efforts to maintain the power plant.
