MALILA APPOINTMENT HAILED

Lusaka Lawyer ELIAS CHIPIMO says the appointment of Supreme Court Judge MUMBA MALILA as Chief Justice is an exceptional choice.
Mr. CHIPIMO says this is because Justice MALILA has vast experience and knowledge in legal matters.
He says Justice MALILA is a man of integrity and sound caliber who will deliver to the expectations of the Zambians.
AND Mr. CHIPIMO who is also Former NAREP President says the appointments of Judicial Service Commission Chairperson MWIKISA MUKANDE and Judicial Complaints Commission Chairperson VINCENT MALAMBO are good choices.
He says the Chief Justice and the other appointed individuals are legal minds whose great experience will uphold the credibility of the Judiciary.
Mr. CHIPIMO was speaking to ZNBC News in Lusaka today.
And in a statement to ZNBC News in Lusaka, the UPND Alliance Council of Presidents has congratulated Justice MALILA, Judicial Service Commission chairperson MWIKISA MUKANDE and Judicial Complaints Commission chairperson VINCENT MALAMBO.
UPND Alliance Spokesperson who is also Republican Progressive Party – RPP President LESLIE CHIKUSE said those appointed have a collective responsibility to ensure the negative perception that has dogged the Judiciary in recent years, is turned around.
Mr. CHIKUSE has also congratulated those who have been appointed District commissioners.
He said the District Commissioners are expected to work hard and ensure they adhere to the New Dawn government’s agenda of taking development to all parts of the country.
Meanwhile the Institute of Law, Policy Research and Human Rights Executive Director JOSEPH CHIRWA says the appointment of Justice MUMBA MALILA as Chief Justice is long overdue and well deserved.
Mr. CHIRWA says Justice MALILA will make a good Chief Justice as he is an avid researcher and writer whose intellect thrills all lawyers.
He says Justice MALILA is one of the few people to serve twice as Attorney-General and commands great admiration and respect among lawyers of all ranks and members of the bench.
Mr. CHIRWA says this is a good appointment that will help build the jurisprudence of Zambia and exciting for all lawyers.
He adds that President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA must be commended for making the appointment.
