Masebo calls for regular health checks
Etambuyu Katota-Health Minister SYLVIA MASEBO has called on employers to facilitate regular health check-ups for their workers.
Ms. MASEBO says screening for communicable and non communicable diseases is important to promote a healthy workforce.
Speaking during Tuberculosis -TB- meeting with cooperating partners in Lusaka , Ms. MASEBO said it has been observed that 4 thousand deaths recorded annually are for those with advanced TB.
She said there is need to raise TB awareness as statistics indicate that there is an awareness gap that needs to be addressed.
And World Health Organization- WHO Country Representative NATHAN BAKYAITA commended Zambia for achieving key milestones of reducing TB by 30 percent in 2020.
Meanwhile TB and Leprosy Programme National Coordinator PATRICK LUNGU said eliminating TB by 2030 is attainable as the programme has a lot of support from government.
