MINE IN MAPATIZYA TO BE REVIVED-VEEP
By Moombe Hamboola:
Vice President Mutale Nalumango says the government will revive the mining industry in Mapatizya, so that local people can start benefiting from the mineral resources in the area.
Mrs. Nalumango says it is sad that the people of Mapatizya are living in poverty when the area is rich in minerals.
She has also expressed sadness that Mapatizya residents do not have schools, hospitals and safe drinking water, in the 21st century.
The Vice President was speaking in Mulamfu Ward in Zimba District, where she was campaigning for UPND candidate, Charles Sichaabi, ahead of the Local Government by-election to take place tomorrow.
Mrs. Nalumango also said government will buy 4-hundred-thousand tonnes of maize, in addition to the 5-hundred-thousand tonnes that were targeted at the start of the current marketing season.
She said government will ensure maize does not go to waste.
The Vice President was accompanied to Mapatizya by Southern Province Minister Cornelius Mweetwa, Health Minister Sylvia Masebo, Fisheries and Livestock Minister Makozo Chikote, and UPND National Chairperson Stephen Katuka.
