MINI FOOTBALL NATIONAL TEAM OFF TO NIGERIA AFCON
By Chansa Kunda- Zambia Mini football National team players say their target is to win this year’s AFCON tournament.
Captain of the seven-aside team, AARON MWALE says the players are geared to compete despite facing tough opposition.
MWALE told ZNBC Sport that the team is fully aware of the task at hand and will endeavour to make the nation proud.
He said despite being drawn against tough opposition in group D which comprises defending champions Libya, Algeria and Gabon, his team will make it to the final.
And Midfielder PRINCE LUNGU said the challenges faced during the preparations will propel the team to work hard.
LUNGU said the aim of the team is to finish in the top five so that they can qualify for the 2022 Ukraine World Cup.
The players who are part of the 15-member contingent were speaking before departure for Nigeria where the tournament will be held from the 8th to 17th July 2021.
The second edition of the Mini football AFCON tournament has attracted over 12 teams, and Zambia will open her account with a fixture against Gabon on Friday 9th July, 2021.
