By Etambuyu Katota-The Ministry of Health has launched the national health sector planning cycle for 2022-2024.
Health Permanent secretary Technical Services KENNEDY MALAMA says the platform is meant to reflect on other health priorities such as HIV and AIDS, Tuberculosis, Malaria, neglected Tropical Diseases and Non-communicable Diseases NCDs among others.
Meanwhile, Dr. MALAMA says the COVID-19 multi-sectoral response team is resolved to ensuring sustained strengthening of all COVID-19 Response pillars.
He says in the past few days, surveillance and laboratory teams across the country have been reviewing testing strategies and lessons learnt over the past months to ramp up testing and enable formidable decision making.
AND Dr. MALAMA says the vaccine campaign continues to improve and in the last 24 hours 4,967 Dose 1 and 1,631 Dose 2 AstraZeneca vaccinations were administered.
He says 874 doses of Johnson and Johnson were also administered.
Dr. MALAMA has further revealed that in the last 24 hours, the country recorded 247 new COVID-19 cases out of 3,129 tests conducted with 23 COVID-19 related deaths.
He says 1,027 patients have been discharged.
