Mutati calls for unique innovations
By Wilson Mulinda-Technology and Science Minister FELIX MUTATI has called for unique innovations that standout to attract potential businesses for Zambians.
Mr. MUTATI says innovation provides an opportunity for people to continue working digitally while preventing COVID 19.
He says government intends to move in a certain direction for technology to contribute 5 percent to the Gross Domestic Product -GDP.
Mr. MUTATI said this in a speech read for him by Director Communication NGYESA BWALYA during the Awards Ceremony of the finalists from the Zambia Information and Communication Technology Authority ZICTA ICT innovation hackathon.
Meanwhile, ZICTA Acting Director General MWENYA MUTALE said such initiatives are vital for economic development.
Mr. MUTALE said such awards create opportunities for youths to make advances with their innovations.
And Liquid Telecoms Managing Director, MARK TOWNSEND said his company’s ambition is to transform the Continent by empowering Africans with knowledge on ICT’s.
Stanbic Bank Zambia Head Innovation YAZA KARA said there is need for strategic partnerships that promote the use of ICT’s among the young Zambians.
IHS Towers Director Commercial AUGUSTINE PHIRI said his company has been supporting innovation programs like the ZICTA ICT hackathon since inception.
