NANGOMA DAM BURSTS
(ZANIS ) Nangoma Dam in Mumbwa District of Central Province has burst due to heavy rainfall causing flush floods which have engulfed several houses and crop fields on the downstream.
The situation has left people trapped in their houses on the downstream in Muchabi area of Chief Shakumbila’s Chiefdom, affecting about 15 villages.
Mumbwa District Commissioner, Pamela Chipongwe, who rushed to the area to assess the damage described the situation as a disaster.
Ms. Chipongwe appealed to government through the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit -DMMU- to evacuate the trapped villagers to avoid loss of lives.
