NHCC SEEKS WAYS TO PROMOTE OLD CHILENJE HOUSE
By Patricia Banda-The National Heritage Conservation Commission -NHCC- has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Kelvin Nyirongo Hope Foundation aimed at promoting Education and Tourism services at the Old Chilenje House for first Kenneth Kaunda.
NHCC Executive Director Collins Chipote says this will enable pupils from various schools to be undertaking education tours to the site as well as the youths supported by the foundation to know more on the political history of the old State House.
Mr. Chipote says this will help inculcate national values and patriotism in learners.
And Kelvin Nyirongo Hope Foundation Chief Executive Officer Kelvin Nyirongo said his foundation will engage various schools for education tours.
Lusaka District Commissioner David Silubanje said it is the desire of President Edgar Lungu to ensure the heritage sites are preserved.
Mr. Silubanje also called on land administrators not to allocate land meant for heritage sites.
