NKANDU RALLIES FANS
By Wilson Mulinda:
Sports Minister ELVIS NKANDU has called on Zambian football fans to be the 12th player as the Chipolopolo takes on Comoros in their 2nd AFCON group H qualifier at the National Heroes stadium on Tuesday.
NKANDU says he shares the pain with the fans of losing the first game but says the team needs the support of the fans to get a positive result on home soil.
He says Zambians should emulate the morale that Ivory Coast received from its supporters which can boost the team’s confidence.
NKANDU has told ZNBC news in an interview that Zambia has all the material it needs to qualify and has called for patience from fans.
Meanwhile, NKANDU also assured the Zambia Pool Union -ZPU- of full support as the team prepares for the World Pool Championship to be hosted by Morocco in October.
He said the new dawn administration is changing the narrative of prioritizing football over other sports disciplines.
NKANDU also congratulated the team for winning the Africa Pool Championship, while challenging the players to aim higher at the next event.
And ZPU General Secretary TESFA SHINKOMBWE said the union is holding trials to establish a team to represent the country.
SHINKOMBWE said the team will also comprise the outstanding performers at the just ended Pool Championship because the selection will be based on a player’s current form.
