
NZOCHE ZEEP PROJECT ADVANCES
(ZANIS) Muchinga Province Minister HENRY SIKAZWE says the Government will improve the delivery of quality education through construction of more school infrastructure and providing necessary equipment.
Mr. SIAKZWE told ZANIS after inspecting Nzoche secondary school in Isoka district which is under construction that the Government wants to see value for money on its projects.
He warned that those carrying out shoddy works on projects will be dealt with accordingly.
And JAPHET SINKONDE, who is a technical supervisor of the school project under the Zambia Education Enhancements Project -ZEEP- said works are progressing well.
Mr. SINKONDE said the project which started in October 2018 is now under phase two and is expected to be completed by December this year.
Meanwhile, School head teacher SUZIKA SIMWAKA said the facility has since been partially opened following the successful completion of targets under phase one.
Mr. SIMWAKA said the school is already recording an increased pupil population following the introduction of free education and new school infrastructure.
He added that pupils who dropped out of school because their parents and guardians could not afford school fees, are now back in class.
Nzoche Second reduce transport costs for parents which they were spending to send their children to boarding schools far from their homes.
She said Pupils from Nzoche and other surrounding areas have been accessing boarding secondary schools from either Nakonde or Isoka Boma located 86 and 1-hundred and 50 kilometres away.
Government through funding from the World Bank, is constructing 82 secondary schools in 7 provinces in the country of which rural communities are earmarked to benefit from this programme.
