PAC assures contractors of payments
Angela Limwanya-Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee -PAC- Chairperson, WARREN MWAMBAZI has assured contractors who have unfinished projects due to unsettled payments as reported by the Auditor General that they will be paid for the remaining works to be completed.
Mr. MWAMBAZI says construction projects that have not been completed within the stipulated time-frame have deprived the government of huge sums of money.
He has explained that most construction projects that have not been completed will require re-evaluation due to the escalation of prices of building materials.
Mr. MWAMBAZI says the Public Accounts Committee wants to ensure that all contracts for projects that have stalled are cleared to avoid more expenses on the government.
He was speaking in Livingstone when PAC members toured the site earmarked for the construction of a Food Reserve Agency -FRA- shed.
And Project contractor, Advanced African Solution -ADAS- Country Manager ORLY PENASO informed the Parliamentary Committee members that the construction of the shed is scheduled to start on the First of next month, if government meets all the payments.
Mr. PENASO said the FRA shed to be constructed in Livingstone will have a storage capacity of five-thousand tonnes.
