Petauke Women Get Grants
(NAIS) Petauke District Commissioner Velenasi Moyo has urged women who have received productivity grants from the Supporting Women’s Livelihood Project under the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services, to use the money wisely.
Ms Moyo says over 6-thousand women in Petauke have each been empowered with 2,700 kwacha Productivity Grant totalling 17.2 million kwacha.
She says the women should realise that the grants are meant to uplift their livelihoods, hence the need to invest wisely.
Ms Moyo said this when officers from the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services paid a courtesy call at her office in Petauke.
And Petauke District Community Development Officer Rosemary Mutombo said the project was initially received with mixed feelings by communities in Petauke, as they associated it with Satanism.
She however said there is now high demand for more women to be included due to the positive impact on businesses.
